UFC 274 | Main Card Preview
Saturday, May 7th (10:00 PM EST Main Card, 8:00 PM EST Prelims, 6:00 PM EST Early Prelims)
Charles Oliveira vs. Justin Gaethje
WATCH - There are lots of UFC fighters that have highlight knockouts. Strikes so vicious you might look away from the screen. But few fighters do the prolonged damage that #1 Justin Gaethje can deliver on his opponents. Punch after punch, kick after kick, battering your face and body until you have nothing left to give. But what happens when he faces a fighter who does not quit. A lightweight champion, who has gotten knocked down in both of his title fights just to come back and finish his opponents in the second round. This is a finale for violence. A vicious brawler and a technical artist, willing to inflict pain on each other to the bitter end all for the highest level this sport has to offer: the UFC lightweight championship!
Rose Namajunas vs. Carla Esparza
WATCH - There are lots of fair criticisms that people have for women’s MMA, but some need be reminded that women’s MMA is very much still in its pioneer era. Nothing proves that more than this Saturday night’s rematch of the FIRST ever UFC strawweight championship. Not only was the current champion Thug Rose in the first ever title fight for her division, but she’s still only 29 years old. This division is so young that Pat Barry wants to date it.
Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Chandler
WATCH - Must be awful to have to watch yourself take immense damage during all of the Gaethje highlights in this card’s promos. Yes, I could be talking about either of these two. Being a big name goes a long way. Having a storied past of high caliber wins and exciting fights certainly helps. But none of that matters when you step in the octagon and the only thing keeping you relevant and in the top promotion is showing up right here and right now. Which top 10 lightweight will get relive his glory days in front of thunderous applause from fans, and which one will be brushed aside and forced into retirement.
MMAalgo Bet - Tony Ferguson 3.5u @ +290 (better than -147.6)
FGTDalgo Bet - Fight Goes The Distance 1u @ +150 (better than -113.3)
Mauricio Rua vs. Ovince Saint Preux
BATHROOM BREAK - I heard you like retirement fights. How about light heavyweights? Who doesn’t love watching large tired men who have lost all their killer athletic ability?
Donald Cerrone vs. Joe Lauzon
WATCH - I know what you are thinking, and yes. This is the best fight in UFC history. Just look at those DANA Records! 16 UFC finishes vs 13 UFC finishes! No seriously look at them. Don’t look any lower. Forget about Cowboy Cerrone not winning any of his last 6 fights. Forget about Joe Lauzon not fighting since before COVID-19. Forget about this being the first of 3 retirement fights to kick off the main card.
