UFC 278 | Main Card Preview
Saturday, August 20th (10:00 PM EST Main Card, 8:00 PM EST Prelims, 6:00 PM EST Early Prelims)
Kamaru Usman vs. Leon Edwards
WATCH - Nothing screams deserved title shot quite like eye-poking a contender and then almost getting knocked out by an unranked journeyman. But what about his impressive win streak of beating up about-to-retire Cowboy Cerrone and lightweight RDA? Who cares if he isn't truly deserving, how could we ever forget the incredible 15 minutes of nothing that happened the first time these two fought! Can't wait for more of that for 25 rounds!
Paulo Costa vs. Luke Rockhold
WATCH - The people's main event. Rockhold, the former champ with a suspect chin will enter the octagon for the first time in over 3 years to take on a power-punching powerlifting freak of nature. Get your wine ready cause this top 10 middleweight bout is going to be a banger!
Jose Aldo vs. Merab Dvalishvili
WATCH - #3 Aldo has been on an incredible roll since losing his last title shot, and #6 Merab has been on a rocket to the top for a while now. It's incredible how stacked this bantamweight division is right now, because in any other division #3 vs #6 with large win streaks would be a guaranteed title eliminator. But with TJ Dillashaw, Marlon Vera, the winner of Yan vs O'Malley, and whatever happens with Cejudo, neither of these two are in the conversation yet for next up. Doesn't help that of all the names I've mentioned these two are easily the most boring and by quite a large margin. Cruz should retire right now and then they can market this fight for the vacant bantamweight decisionator title.
Wu Yanan vs. Lucie Pudilova
BATHROOM BREAK - And the card has fallen off a cliff.
MMAalgo Bet - Wu Yanan 3.5u @ +100 (better than -141.9)
Tyson Pedro vs. Harry Hunsucker
BATHROOM BREAK - Harry Hunsucker has 12 professional fights. All of them have ended in the first round. This is a man who got decimated in DWCS and STILL got a fight in the UFC, proceeded to get destroyed in his debut, and then again, and is STILL here! It's this kind of quality fighter kicking off a PPV main card that really justifies ESPN raising the price again!
