UFC London | Prelim Preview
Saturday, March 19th (4:00 PM EST Main Card, 1:00 PM EST Prelims)
Molly McCann vs. Luana Carolina
BATHROOM BREAK - This fight was shuffled onto the main card after our main card preview came out earlier in the week. Makes so much sense for the UFC to put these mediocre and uninteresting, unranked women's flyweights on the main card. Especially since it's also taking the place of ranked heavyweight and light heavyweight fights.
Jai Herbert vs. Ilia Topuria
WATCH - This fight was also bumped up to the main card, but this fight actually deserves it. Topuria is one of the most hyped prospects in any division who currently sits outside the rankings. He's only 25 and has smashed every opponent he's faced in the UFC including very tough fighters such as Damon Jackson and Ryan Hall. Jai Herbert is a fun kill-or-be-killed fighter who hasn't been as consistent but will have the advantage of fighting in his usual weight class since Topuria is usually a featherweight and will be jumping up a division to lightweight in order to face him. Should be a banger!
Mike Grundy vs. Makwan Amirkhani
BATHROOM BREAK - Loser gets cut fight, and not a particularly enticing one.
Jack Shore vs. Timur Valiev
WATCH - Talk about a prospect who deserves a way bigger push on a card in his home country! Jack Shore might not finish all his opponents, but he has looked incredible in all 4 of his UFC victories, is still undefeated, is constantly improving, and has the skillset to make it far in the bantamweight division. Timur Valiev is technically still unbeaten in the UFC but in actuality he got destroyed in his debut by Trevin Jones who then failed a drug test for marijuana which caused the fight to be officially overturned. He's looked improved each fight since, but it will take a larger leap in talent for him to match the young gun Jack Shore.
Cory McKenna vs. Elise Reed
BATHROOM BREAK - Elisa Reed is one of the worst fighters I've ever seen in the UFC, getting destroyed in her debut by an awful journeyman whose been destroyed by everyone else in the division. Cory McKenna mostly wins her fights, but they all have a very low-level feel to them. Just look at those differentials and try and take this fight seriously.
Muhammad Mokaev vs. Cody Durden
WATCH - Cody Durden is a smaller bantamweight who can't make up his mind on whether he should fight at bantamweight or flyweight, a practice which might get him destroyed by an impressive and undefeated debuting bantamweight like Muhammad Mokaev. Mokaev is from Dagestan but fights out of Manchester, England, putting him in prime position to play a key role in the musical I'm writing about a British Isles vs Caucasus Region remake of west side story. Obviously starring Khabib and McGregor as the lead romantic roles, but after the dramatic events in the hotel this week it looks like Topuria and Paddy will have to be included as well.
