UFC San Diego | Main Card Preview
Saturday, August 13th (7:00 PM EST Main Card, 4:00 PM EST Prelims)
Marlon Vera vs. Dominick Cruz
WATCH - On the surface, this fight appears to be the championing of a new guard of top ranked bantamweights with #5 Marlon Vera at the helm. After derailing fan favorite Sean O'Malley, Marlon Vera seemed poised to take that momentum all the way, only to be immediately derailed himself by the former champion, and 4th best featherweight of all time, Jose Aldo. But since then he's won 3 straight fights definitively, all with performance bonuses, and now looks ready to make the leap to the upper echelon. So like taking candy from a baby, here comes another former champion, this one even better than the last, and one who simply refuses to ever lose a non-title fight match. Marlon Vera is going to have a long night ahead of him, because if #8 Dominick Cruz ever loses outside of a title fight you can rest assured it will be his last ever bout.
FGTDalgo Bet - Fight Does Not Go The Distance 1u @ +140 (better than -123.8)
Nate Landwehr vs. David Onama
WATCH - Fun but inconsistent unranked featherweight fighters. Onama keeps improving and finishing fights so this is obviously a card placement to gain him some hype with a win by KO/TKO. We'll see if the UFC gets their way cause these things have a tendency to backfire.
Yazmin Jauregui vs. Iasmin Lucindo
BATHROOM BREAK - We're only 3 fights into the main card and already we have a bout in which both fighters are lacking Wikipedia pages. There is no reason a double-debut fight should ever be on a main card. Might as well just play reruns of Dana White Contender Series if this is the quality they are going to push onto us on fight night cards.
Devin Clark vs. Azamat Murzakanov
BATHROOM BREAK - As the horseman of death rides in to bring the end of the world, Devin Clark rides into fight night cards to signal to the world that it will be a truly awful, unmemorable, and at times unwatchable UFC event. The man once headlined a card against Anthony Smith right after Smith had been brutalized back to back by Teixera and Rakic while Clark wasn't even ranked. The last card he was on had a co-main between two debuting fighters and a main event headlined by Belal "Unanimous Decision" Muhammad. The only PPV he's fought on since the COVID-19 pandemic was Nunes vs Spencer. The man is guaranteed to be on the worst card of any given year.
MMAalgo Bet - Devin Clark 3.5u @ +125 (better than -152.8)
Priscila Cachoeira vs. Ariane Lipski
BATHROOM BREAK - Of all the fights to get magically saved a week after falling out, why did it have to be this one?
MMAalgo Bet - Ariane Lipski 3.5u @ -175 (better than -202.2)
Bruno Silva vs. Gerald Meerschaert
WATCH - They may be too old to be prospects but they are exciting fringe guys permanently on the cusp of being ranked. For Bruno Silva, you could make a case that he even has a chance to break past the invisible rankings barrier and make his way up the contender list. His 3 fight KO/TKO win-streak was only recently derailed by the star kickboxer Alex Pereira who is himself likely next in line to fight for the title. If Bruno Silva can bounce back and get a finish here the UFC might just give him Uriah Hall's former spot in the rankings.
MMAalgo Bet - Gerald Meerschaert 3.5u @ +240 (better than -121.9)
