UFC Vegas 42 | Prelim Preview
Saturday, November 13th (4:00 PM EST Main Card, 1:00 PM EST Prelims)
Miguel Baeza vs. Khaos Williams
WATCH - Yes we are aware that between posting the Main Card preview and now, this fight was promoted to the Main Card. We are also aware that this fight is all about redemption. Miguel Baeza was the hipster hardcore's favorite, undefeated, and 3-0 in the UFC all by finish. You couldn't go on any forum without hearing about how he was a future top 5 welterweight. That all changed when he lost Santiago Ponzinibbio in his last fight. Khaos Williams was a fan favorite, 2-0 in the UFC, both fights finished with a single punch in less than 30 seconds. A lackluster loss and win later and the casual fans have forgot about him. Two guys under 30, finish their fights, but came up short in their last attempts to break into the top 15. B-b-banger!
Thiago Moises vs. Joel Alvarez
WATCH - A year ago Alvarez and Moises were both on my top 5 unranked lightweights in the UFC list. Since then Moises beat tough unranked opponent Alexander Hernandez, squeezed into a top 15 spot, and then lost to the extraordinarily hyped Islam Makachev. Alvarez in the meantime has done absolutely nothing. Another banger cross road fight and the winner proves he deserved to be on that list I made a year ago.
Cynthia Calvillo vs. Andrea Lee
BATHROOM BREAK - You see a sign at a table set up outside your office building. It reads "Stay awake for 15 minutes and win 1 million dollars. You think to yourself "wow, what an easy way to get rich!" You approach the table, and agree to participate in the challenge. They take you to a room with nothing but a TV. You realize the TV is playing Calvillo vs Lee, and fear creeps over you immediately as your eyes begin to close. You can feel the hope of getting rich evaporating every second. Game over!
Sean Woodson vs. Collin Anglin
WATCH - You're not watching this fight because it's going to be the fight of the year. Or even the fight of the night. Or even a good fight. You are watching this because one day at a house party someone will have the Conor McGregor card playing on a tv in the living room and one of these two will still be hanging around on the early prelims. You don't know anyone there cause they are all your spouse's friends, so you try to strike up conversation with the one other person who doesn't know anyone and is just watching UFC with you in the corner. Boom, you channel all of your knowledge from this fight and come across as super smart. Or as a degenerate gambler. I don't know, it's your fantasy.
Cortney Casey vs. Liana Jojua
BATHROOM BREAK - One look at Casey's record and it's hard to justify her still being in the UFC. The good news is we don't have to justify anything when we pretend this fight doesn't exist.
Marc Diakiese vs. Rafael Alves
WATCH - Diakiese is young, still improving, and won 2 in a row before losing a fight of the night banger to Rafael Fiziev. Alvez didn't look great in his debut so this matchmaking isn't the most exciting and a massive step back for Diakiese compared to the talent he's used to facing the UFC.
Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Da-Un Jung
WATCH - Super underrated fight. Nzechukwu has been a prospect killer and on a 3-win streak since losing his debut to the #13 ranked fighter Paul Craig. And Jung is unbeaten in 4 fights. Both of these guys sling it and will put on a show to start the card.
