UFC Vegas 44 | Main Card Preview
Saturday, December 4th (10:00 PM EST Main Card, 7:00 PM EST Prelims)
Rob Font vs. Jose Aldo
WATCH - Been a rough 2 weeks without any UFC but they are looking to cure our withdrawals with a banger of a card! Rob Font slings bombs with his punches just like his Boston Cartel teammate Calvin Kattar. Font absolutely destroyed Marlon Moraes in the 1st round and most recently put up a dominating 5 round striking clinic against former-champ Cody Garbrant. He will look to take the head off another former UFC champion Jose Aldo who now has a win streak of his own against top 15 guys and amazingly is still relevant since losing his belt a division up over 4 years ago.
Brad Riddell vs. Rafael Fiziev
WATCH - Talk about a prospect fight for the ages. Both guys are entering their prime with a 4-win streak in the hyper competitive division of lightweight. Both guys are coming off fight of the night bonuses. Riddell sports the incredible New Zealand City Kickboxing technique that the MMA world has come to know and love watching his champion teammates Alexander Volkanovski and Israel Adesanya. Meanwhile Fiziev's strikes sound like cannon shots and when he lands he's like a stocky Francis Ngannou. Closest thing you'll ever get to a guaranteed banger!
Clay Guida vs. Leonardo Santos
BATHROOM BREAK - And on the 8th day, God made the journeyman. And thus we have these two. Perpetual journeymen, with really solid UFC records but just couldn't string enough wins together in a row to make a real push at the top of the division and are now aging out of the young scrappy bantamweight division. They're both coming off wins but know that one more loss and their dreams of ever seeing the top 15 are probably gone. Hopefully that motivates them to put on a banger, and the grappling should be good with all the submission wins they both have.
Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill
WATCH - Sure, it's a lot of fun when you have two exciting prospects on massive win streaks going up head to head. But another fight that can be just as fun is when you have too promising prospects who recently had their hype trains derailed try and bounce back against each other. Both these guys have been fantastic at finishing fights in the UFC but in their very last bouts suffered freak injuries in the 1st round which rendered them unable to continue. They will both be looking to right the ship and remind the MMA world why people loved to tune in for their fights.
Brendan Allen vs. Chris Curtis
WATCH - We seriously can't think of anyone who has had a tougher route to being ranked than the permanent answer to the question: who is the best unranked fighter in the UFC? Brendan Allen! His debut was a submission victory over currently #12 Kevin Holland. Next fight he gets a 1st round TKO win over Tom Breese who was (4-1) at the time, the 1 loss being to Sean Strickland. 3rd fight Allen defeated Kyle Daukaus who recently fought for a top 15 ranking. 4th fight he finally loses against currently #7 Sean Strickland. 5th fight Allen won by 1st round submission against Karl Roberson whose only other UFC losses were to ranked opponents. And finally in Allen's last fight he defeated the previously undefeated Punahele Soriano. Now I know what you are thinking, surely Allen's next opponent must be ranked, right? Nope! Instead he takes on Chris Curtis, an incredibly seasoned veteran who just won his UFC debut by knocking out the incredibly hyped Phil Hawes with a counter left in the first round. It never gets any easier for poor Brendan Allen!
