UFC Vegas 47 | Prelim Preview
Saturday, February 5th (7:00 PM EST Main Card, 4:00 PM EST Prelims)
Miles Johns vs. John Castaneda
WATCH - Death, Taxes, and Bantamweight Bangers! The most stacked division in the UFC never relents. Both these guys are coming off finishes and the young gun Miles Johns has been particularly exciting and impressive in his UFC run so far. 3 in a row would be huge, especially if he can get a finish again, because it takes a long and flashy win-streak to get noticed at bantamweight nowadays.
Hakeem Dawodu vs. Michael Trizano
WATCH - Dawodu looked like he was a really powerful and entertaining featherweight when he got a headkick KO victory earlier in this UFC career. And Mike Trizano had a little bit of hype coming from him winning his season of TUF. But lately, there has been something missing from their fights and on reflection it appears that both of these fighters have won a majority of their victories by split decision. This is a major crossroads for them cause a win here, especially a big win, could propel them into getting a ranked opponent, while a loss here is all but sealing their fate as a lackluster UFC journeyman.
Chidi Njokuani vs. Marc-Andre Barriault
WATCH - Barriault had an awful first 4 fights in the UFC but somehow convinced the matchmakers to keep him long enough for his recent two fight comeback to come about. He's not a world-beater all of a sudden by any means but he has at least improved to unranked middleweight journeyman quality. Should be a good test for Njokuani's debut, a fighter that has finished a lot of guys in Bellator, but also lost to some mediocre guys in Bellator. If you told me this fight was on Bellator's prelim or the headliner of an LFA card it would make a lot more sense.
Alexis Davis vs. Julija Stoliarenko
BATHROOM BREAK - Davis has lost 4 of her last 5 fights in by decision. Stoliarenko can't even win a single fight. I'd call it a loser leaves town fight but the UFC is so desperate for women's bantamweight fighters that it will probably still keep the loser.
Jailton Almeida vs. Danilo Marques
WATCH - There aren't a lot of good unranked light heavyweights or really anyone coming up that pipeline right now, so the UFC desperately needs a guy like Almeida to have a good showing. He looked dominant on DWCS, is on a 9-fight win streak, and has won all 14 victories in his career by finish with a strong mixture of both submissions and KO/TKOs.
Jason Witt vs. Phil Rowe
WATCH - Witt either gets knocked out in the very first minute or he wins. Rowe either gets a finish or he loses. Usually this would scream 7-minute man fight but Rowe has surprisingly been able to consistently get finishes towards the end of the second round and early in the 3rd which makes this fight a little more interesting than your average wait-out-the-gas-tank welterweight prelim snoozer.
Malcolm Gordon vs. Denys Bondar
BATHROOM BREAK - Debuting flyweight is pretty hype. Wins against Malcom Gordon meaning absolutely nothing is not hype. Might as well showcase his skills against a CPR doll.
