UFC Vegas 48 | Main Card Preview
Saturday, February 19th (7:00 PM EST Main Card, 4:00 PM EST Prelims)
Johnny Walker vs. Jamahal Hill
WATCH - Most fighters switch to a larger and more well-known gym to ignite a mid-career resurgence. That doesn't look to be the case for #10 Johnny Walker who went from being the most entertaining fighter in the light heavy weight division to a boring points fighter since switching to SBG Ireland. A gym best known for Conor McGregor and hundreds of fighters who were hyped up because of their training with McGregor and were never even close to UFC level. #12 Jamahal Hill has looked fantastic so far in the UFC outside of a flukey armbar loss to #11 Paul Craig and showcased that in his last fight where his power easily finished a tough opponent in #14 Jimmy Crute. If the old Johnny Walker shows up, we are in for a real treat with some good old 0 defense swanging and banging. But if the SBG Ireland Walker is here to stay, we can at least hope that Hill's power gets shown off some more with another highlight KO.
Jamie Pickett vs. Kyle Daukaus
WATCH - Who can forget Kyle Daukaus's legendary KO against Kevin Holland when he put him to sleep by ramming his skull directly through Holland's head before choking him out cold. It takes a special level of precision to use your head like a battering ram, and Daukaus was able to pull it off in gruesome fashion. If only such a move was legal, Daukaus would be getting to fight up instead of continuing his path towards becoming a journeyman.
Parker Porter vs. Alan Baudot
BATHROOM BREAK - If there are two things we hate in this sport, it is fights that have a high pace, and fights that end in a finish. Thankfully, this fight has 0 chance of either. Isn't unranked heavyweight just the best?
Jim Miller vs. Nikolas Motta
WATCH - Miller has fought in the UFC 38 times and is still putting on bangers. He may not be as quick as he used to be, but it should still be a fun debut for Nikolas Motta, a fighter that showcased some insanely deadly power in his hard-fought victory on Dana White's Contender Series back in 2020.
Joaquin Buckley vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan
WATCH - In October of 2020, Joaquin Buckley became a viral sensation when his spinning back kick KO over Impa Kasanganay became the most watched UFC clip of all time on social media. He got a massive push in his next two fights, which came to a screeching halt when he was shocking KOd by a flashy head kick from Alessio Di Chirico in January of 2021. Then in Allesio's very next fight in August of 2021, the trend continued when Abdul Razak Alhassan KOd Di Chirico with a flashy head kick of his own. But the UFC has finally stepped in and decided that this curse shall continue no longer! And thus, the beginning and ending fighters of the KO head kick chain are being forced to fight each other and once and for all decide whose head kicking violence is truly the most sensational of all!
