UFC Vegas 48 | Prelim Preview
Saturday, February 19th (7:00 PM EST Main Card, 4:00 PM EST Prelims)
Gabriel Benitez vs. David Onama
WATCH - These two know how to put on a fun fight, they just aren't very good and most likely will never get even close to the featherweight rankings. So, if you don't care about what a fight means in the grand scheme of the division and just want to watch some casual pointless bloodshed, this is the fight for you!
Jessica-Rose Clark vs. Stephanie Egger
WATCH - I saw the recent success and was about to refer to this as a prospect fight before realizing that despite not being ranked yet, they are both older than both #1 Amanda Nunes and the women's bantamweight champion Juliana Pena. But somehow in the case of Clark have already shown their ceiling in losses to Pannie Kianzad and Jessica Eye. The only hope of this fight meaning anything at all or having any entertainment value at all is a quick finish from Egger.
Chas Skelly vs. Mark Striegl
BATHROOM BREAK - Two men on a journey to nowhere. Hopefully far from me because Striegl's Murder Differential makes me physically sick to my stomach.
Diana Belbita vs. Gloria de Paula
BATHROOM BREAK - Youth doesn't always mean there is room to grow. Some people should really just view MMA as a hobby.
Chad Anheliger vs. Jesse Strader
WATCH - It's never too late to follow your dreams. Especially if you are Anheliger and your UFC debut at 35 is an absolute layup against an inexperienced and bottom of the barrel bantamweight like Jesse Strader.
Jonathan Pearce vs. Christian Rodriguez
WATCH - Undefeated 24-year-old debutante Rodriguez is about to find out if it's the right decision to step up to the UFC this early when he takes on Jonathan Pearce, a very solid prospect who finished his last two fights against some solid fighters. Love seeing fights like this inject some energy back into the featherweight division which has been stalled out lately.
Mario Bautista vs. Jay Perrin
WATCH - I simply refuse to bathroom break a bantamweight fight after that division has been singlehandedly carrying this entire year's prelims so far. Hopefully Perrin's debut showcases another rising prospect adding to the deep depths of this stacked division.
