UFC Vegas 51 | Prelim Preview
Saturday, April 16th (8:30 PM EST Main Card, 5:30 PM EST Prelims)
Devin Clark vs. William Knight
BATHROOM BREAK - Journeymen light heavyweights on the wrong side of 30 for this to be fun. Knight has some power, Clark does not.
Lina Lansberg vs. Pannie Kianzad
BATHROOM BREAK - #11 Lansberg is too old for this fight to matter and #12 Kianzad has already hit her ceiling. They are only ranked because women’s bantamweight is shallow and awful.
Drakkar Klose vs. Brandon Jenkins
WATCH - Klose looks like a journeyman at first glance but actually was putting together a solid win streak against tough vets like Bobby Green before he got stopped by #4 lightweight Beneil Dariush. Jenkins lost his debut but it was a banger of a fight and these guys will be sure to go at it hard to right their respective ships.
Rafa Garcia vs. Jesse Ronson
WATCH - Garcia hasn’t been the most successful or exciting and with how deep the lightweight division is it is doubtful he will last very long. But oh boy is Ronson a fun one! Don’t be fooled by his record, his 3 losses were from his original stint in the UFC in which he lost 3 fights in a row all by split decision and proceeded to get cut. But after clawing his way back to the UFC, he looked poised to be a Cinderella story for the ages as he destroyed his opponent in a performance of the night showing! Only to immediately get popped by USADA… thus resulting in a no contest. Ronson must have misinterpreted what it means to make sure the fight isn’t in the hands of the judges.
Chris Barnett vs. Martin Buday
WATCH - The people's main event! There is nothing quite as lovable as a massive blubbery hunk of a man who can explode out of nowhere to finish a fight. For the same reason people love Derrick Lewis, Barnett showed a similar magic when he landed a wheel kick out of nowhere to win his last fight. Unfortunately, many will doubt that a highlight performance like that is repeatable, especially against a strong debuting prospect like Buday who looked incredibly talented in his early finish victory on the contender series.
Jordan Leavitt vs. Trey Ogden
WATCH - THE MONKEY KING IS BACK! There is nothing quite like a choreographed awkward dance move while your opponent lays unconscious in the octagon! The absolute king of semi-accidental post-fight comedy returns!
Istela Nunes vs. Sam Hughes
BATHROOM BREAK - Too many fights on a subpar card to bother watching fighters this bad.
Alatengheili vs. Kevin Croom
BATHROOM BREAK - Aljo beats Yan in the rematch and already the only bantamweight fight on the next card is dreadful. Coincidence…?
